Buntings power WCA to 9-7 win
Playing just its second game of the season, the Wilson Christian Academy softball team rallied to a 9-7 victory against visiting Cape Fear Christian on Tuesday.
Trailing 4-2, the Lady Chargers answered with a run in the fourth and three each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Casey Bunting and winning pitcher Haley Bunting each slugged a home run for Wilson Christian, while Casey Bunting rapped two doubles and Haley Bunting and Christy Jones each doubled once.
The Buntings each drove in two runs, while Jones, Haley Parker, Taylor Woodard and Holland Miller had one each.
In the circle, Haley Bunting allowed ine hits while walking three and striking out eight. Wilson Christian collected 15 hits and survived five errors.
With a 2-0 mark, the Lady Chargers of head coach Carrie Raynell play a doubleheader in the Wake Christian tourney Thursday and oppose East Wake Academy at 5 p.m. Friday.
