Wilson Christian loses at Oakwood

GREENVILLE — The visiting Wilson Christian Academy softball team couldn’t contain the hitting or pitching of Kaitlyn Kostrzebski in dropping a 4-1 nonconference decision to The Oakwood School on Monday.

In the circle, Kostrzebski limited the Lady Chargers to six hits while walking one and striking out seven.

The Oakwood pitcher was working on a shutout until Wilson Christian’s Haley Bunting slugged a solo home run in the sixth. Casey Bunting, Haley’s first cousin, slammed three doubles.

At the plate, Oakwood’s Kostrzebski connected for a two-run home run and a double. The victors plated two runs in each of the first and third innings.

With a 5-4 record, the Lady Chargers next see action on April 20 with a doubleheader against Wake Christian.
