Greenfield falls to Faith in 5 sets
An improving Greenfield School varsity volleyball team engaged in a back-and-forth affair with Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday afternoon and held a 2-1 lead entering the fourth set.
But the 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference Lady Knights fell behind 13-3 in that span and could never fully recover in a 25-12, 20-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11 loss.
Summer Hassan came within one dig of a double-double, finishing with 10 kills and nine digs. Anna Merritt Hauser finished with 12 kills and six digs, and Caroline Stone notched eight digs and seven kills. Setter Samantha Wainright, who had six digs, directed the Greenfield (3-2) offense with 29 assists. Emma Brown and Kaelyn Wall had seven digs and seven kills, respectively.
Greenfield returns to CPIC play on Tuesday, venturing to new league opponent Wayne Christian.
