Lady Chargers lose in 4 at SMC
RALEIGH — Wilson Christian took a side trip out of North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A varsity volleyball play to pick up valuable experience, despite a four-set loss at Saint Mary’s School.
The Lady Chargers dropped to 9-5 overall with the 25-15, 25-16, 17-25, 25-19 loss to the Saints of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 3-A ranks.
“We were right with them the last set,” WCA head coach Ryan Vanderboegh said. “We played really well but their hitting just overpowered us.”
Sarah Carr had seven kills to lead the Lady Chargers at the net while Lauren Parker had three kills to go with 10 assists. Taylor Woodard added two kills and Kimberly Lamm came up with eight digs.
Wilson Christian will return to Raleigh on Tuesday to face Friendship Christian, where a victory would lock up second place behind Wilmington Christian in the NCCSA 2-A East Region.
