Lady Chargers foiled on Senior Night
For the second time this season, the Wilson Christian varsity girls basketball team could produce few answers for Raleigh New Life Camp.
This time, the Storm served to wreck the Lady Chargers' Senior Night, handing Wilson Christian a 60-35 loss in its regular-season finale.
Wilson Christian of the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A District 3 ranks finished the regular season at 14-10 and will host District 4 representative Greenville Christian in a play-in game Friday at 6 for the right to play in next week's state tournament on the campus of Raleigh Friendship Christian.
The Lady Chargers trailed 43-16 at the half.
"We prepared yesterday in practice, but it's hard to duplicate what they do," Wilson Christian assistant coach Mitch Hayes lamented. "They are so stinking fast at all positions. All of them are 5-6 or smaller but they get up and down the court so quick."
Junior Presley Bissett led the Lady Chargers with eight points, while senior Logan Joyner added six. Joyner was one of four WCA seniors, joining Sarah Reams, Victoria Cooper and Kristi Price.
