WCA rolls to 67-49 win at Rocky Mount Academy

ROCKY MOUNT — Senior Harrison Parker led three Wilson Christian varsity boys basketball players in double figures Thursday night as the Chargers picked up a road win over Rocky Mount Academy by a 67-49 score.
Parker led the way with 23 points, while sophomore Deston Melvin added 17. Junior Seth Thompson had 12 and junior Spencer Parker added seven.
Wilson Christian (5-12) of the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A ranks led 32-28 at halftime after falling behind by eight after one quarter. The Chargers, accurate on eight 3-pointers, then extended to a 43-32 advantage and subverted a Rocky Mount Academy run in the fourth.
Parker netted 10 of his game-high total in the final period.
“A great win tonight giving us some momentum into Friday’s conference game at Berean,” Wilson Christian head coach Kevin Zander said. “The team is starting to hit a groove defensively which is what we have been looking for. A great team win tonight as we kept our composure down the stretch. I am so proud of how these young men are learning and giving their best on both sides of the court!”
Rocky Mount Academy (6-9) was led by Ben Tucker and Collin Legaj, who each had 12 points.
WCA visits Fayetteville Berean Baptist Academy on Friday.
