Lady Crusaders Basketball – Tampa Bay Invitational Recap
________________________________________
In a four day span the Lady Crusaders varsity basketball team played the #6, #25, #2 ranked teams in the state of Florida. After an incredible comeback win in the first round, the Crusaders could not find the same level of production and success and finished the tournament with a 1 – 2 record.

Plagued by turnovers and an uncanny inability to score in round three, this trip to the sunshine state was not as sunny as the lady ‘Saders had hoped. Although the last two games did not not go the way they hoped, plenty of positives were taken from this trip. Winning and having success is fun but one grows and learns more through adversity.

This trip proved very beneficial for the whole team to learn, grow, get priceless experience against top talent and with no rest, get back on the court with three games this week. Sarah Strong led the scoring for the Lady Crusaders in all three rounds, followed by Icyss Storm.

A couple of the Crusader’s young players, 9th graders Reagan Lindholm and Allison LoChirco, saw quality time on the court against the best competition they will see all season and showed they are ready for more action the remainder of the season The both exhibited great growth in handling incredible pressure with Lindholm hitting a couple key threes over the three rounds.

It was also nice to see Toni Hughes getting up and down the court and looking more like herself after she suffered a very tough Achilles tendon tear last season. Come check out your currently ranked NC #5 (regardless of class) this Friday, January 6th at 6:15 for homecoming.”
