THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL HOSTS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT WITH MANY FUTURE COLLEGIATE ATHLETES

The Burlington School will host the 3rdAnnual Spartan Classic Basketball Tournament on November 18-19, 2016. The two-day event will take place at The Burlington School’s Greenwood Terrace campus (1615 Greenwood Terrace, Burlington, NC) and involve the Spartans boys’and girls’varsity basketball teams. With so many future collegiate players on the court, this year’s Classic games are sure to be impressive to watch.

Tickets for adults are $6 for one, $10 for two days. Tickets for students are $3 for one day, $5 for two days.Children 7 and under are admitted for free.

The Burlington School boys will look to find success in the early part of the season without the services of 6’6” All State and Bucknell University commit John Meeks (foot injury). Seniors6’3” TJ Jeffers, 6’4” Jordan Nelson, and 5’11” Terry Woods will work to help TBS continue its recent success on the court

(88-6 record since 2013--14). Juniors,Josiah Jeffers and Trey Cousin are back and much improved from last season.The girls’ basketball program aT The Burlington Schoo has experienced its own share of success finishing last season with a record of 22-5 and a trip to the State Final Four. The Spartans are led by the play of two freshman, Aniyah Vanhook and Molina Williams. Vanhook was an All-Conference selection last season, while Williams was a significant contributor in TBS’s success last year. Look for junior Jessica Fluette, and newcomers,Olivia Eller and Elizabeth Rice to be huge factors this season as well.

High Point ChristianAcademyboys’squad is led by UNC-Asheville commit,Jalen Seegars, WalshUniversity commit, Reece Bogan, and 6’11” John Kerr. The Cougars, who advanced to last year’s NCISAA Class 3A championship game, welcome the addition of four talented transfer students who will make an immediate impact.

Northwood Temple Academy girls have won two of the last three Class 1A state titles including last season. Returning to lead NTAgirls’ teamthis season are Class 1A All-State and division 1 recruits,Ciara Moore and cousinKendal Moore. Adding to the Northwood Temple Acadmeyattack are talented juniors and division 1 recruits, Arielle Wilson and Shenell Davis. Returning starter, 5’11” Myranda Oxendine is a dominant player in the post.

-The Northwood Temple Academy boys are coming off a strong 2015-16 season in which they reached the Class 1A Final Four. The team is led by two division 1 commits,Michael Hueitt (Old Dominion) and Franklin Ugochukwo (Maryland Eastern Shore). Senior Jeremiah Morris and underclassmen,Immanuel Bates and Au’Diese Toney will provide additional fire power as Northwood Temple Academy looks to go deep in the state playoffs in February 2017.

Super talented sophomore, Jamal King,will lead Wayne Country Day School boys’ team attack this season. King was named All-State last season after a monster freshman campaign. In addition to King, look for Cole Atwood and Jimmy Sanders to play pivotal roles in Wayne Country Day School’s success this season.

5:00 PM (Game 2, Boys): High Point Christian Academy vs. Northwood Temple Academy

6:30 PM (Game 3, Girls): Wayne Country Day vs. The Burlington School

8:00 PM (Game 4, Boys): Wayne Country Day vs. The Burlington School



Saturday, November 19

12:00 PM: Girls Consolation Game (Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 3)

1:30 PM: Boys Consolation Game (Loser of Game 2 vs. Loser of Game 4)

3:00 PM: Girls Championship Game (Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 3)
