Improving Chargers defeated at Wake

GARNER — Plagued by a poor third quarter, the visiting Wilson Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team bowed to Wake Christian, a 4-A member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, for the second time this season by a 56-41 count Tuesday night.

Nonetheless, defeat reflected recent improvement for the Chargers of the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A ranks. In the first meeting at Wilson Christian, first-year head coach Kevin Zander’s Chargers lost by 45 points.

Wilson Christian (5-9) cut a 11-6 deficit after one quarter to 23-22 at halftime. However, the Bulldogs outscored Wilson Christian 21-6 in the third quarter.

Top Wilson Christian scorers were Harrison Parker and Zach Hunter with 12 points each.

Leading the Bulldogs (6-10) were Colton Tew with 19 points, Syvon Holland with 15 and Steven Diggs with 11.

The Chargers welcome Faith Christian of Ramseur on Friday night.
