CCS boys drop heartbreaker at Bethel Christian
The Community Christian boys basketball team battled to the final buzzer Thursday night at Bethel Christian, but came up short in a 60-56 loss.
Landon Beamon posted a double-double to tie for the Cyclones’ (6-5) team lead in points with 15 and grabbed a whopping 22 rebounds. Ayden Smith also had 15 points, and Bryce Pittman notched 12. Malachi Ramsey led the Trojans (8-6) with 22 points, followed by Easton Truett with 15 and Miguel Rojas with 12.
The Cyclones had a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter, but turnover ultimately doomed them.
“It’s going to help us a lot with experience,” said Community Christian head coach Kenneth Atkinson. “... The younger players, they’re doing good, they’re learning a lot and they’re getting a lot better. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see them have to lose such a good game that they played so hard.”
The Cyclones will face DASH at Sallie B. Howard school on Tuesday.
COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL (56)--Smith 15, Beamon 15, Pittman 12, Pierce 8, Williams 4, Loftin 2.
BETHEL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (60)--Ramsey 22, Truett 15, Rojas 12, Hills 5, Eubanks 2, Gurley 2, Sanderson 2.
