Senior Jordan London scored but four points but, said first-year head coach Rebecca Leigh, her defensive effort against Greenville Pope John Paul II Catholic big girl Sydnee Neal was critical for the Community Christian School varsity girls basketball team avenging an overtime loss by a 37-25 count in Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf’s Barney Williamson gym on Friday evening.
Neal was limited to nine points by London after pouring in 26 in the first meeting.
In Friday night’s rematch, the Lady Cyclones took command by outscoring Pope John Paul 24-11 in the middle two quarters.
Sophomore Morgan Lane again paced the Community Christian scoring with a game-high 16 points. Sophomore Anna Jackson added six points.
“The girls played really awesome defense,” Leigh commented of her team’s sixth win against eight losses.
The Lady Cyclones return to Carolina Christian Conference play in the ENCSD gym next Friday against Northwood Temple.
