Knights blank Chargers

The Greenfield school girls soccer team didn’t need long to bounce back from a narrow defeat to John Paul II Catholic Tuesday, as the Knights rolled over NCISAA 1-A/2-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference foe Wayne Country Day, 9-0, Thursday afternoon.
The Knights (6-3-2, 4-1 Coastal Plain Independents) quickly gained control of this one, jumping out to a 6-0 lead against the Chargers (2-10, 0-3).
Juliette Suarez-Robles led the Knights with two goals and an assist. Darcy Dean also tallied two goals, Anna Grace Beddingfield and Avery Williams each notched a goal and an assist, Libby Eagles tallied two helpers, Lily Hesse, Jasmine Nguyen and Gabby Beddingfield each scored a goal and Louise Smith and Forbes Good added an assist apiece.
Greenfield piled up 23 shots in the game, and Jeallen Holland made two saves in goal for the clean sheet.
The Knights will be off next week for spring break before returning to action against Epiphany in New Bern on Monday, April 25.
