Fayetteville Academy advances to Battle title game
David Seidel scored the lone goal as Fayetteville Academy defeated Pine Forest 1-0 on Thursday night to advance to the championship game of the Battle of the Bell soccer tournament. Fayetteville Academy is 3-2. Pine Forest is 1-1.
The Eagles’ opponent Saturday night will be either Southern Lee or Pinecrest. Those teams were in a scoreless tie with about five minutes remaining Wednesday when the game was suspended. The title match is set for 7 p.m. at Methodist University.
In Thursday’s consolation bracket game at Pine Forest High School, Lee County defeated Terry Sanford 5-1.
Saturday’s consolation games are scheduled to be played at the Jordan Soccer Complex at 3 p.m. The third place game has Pine Forest against the loser of the Southern Lee-Pinecrest game. The fifth place game has Jack Britt vs. Lee County. The seventh place game has Cape Fear vs. Terry Sanford.
