Guzman scores 2 as CCS tops CFC
Eighth-grader Salvador Guzman scored two goals and had an assist as the host Community Christian School boys soccer team downed Cape Fear Christian 3-1 on Tuesday.
Guzman sent a cross that was headed into the goal by sophomore teammate Andrew Huston in the first half. In the second half, Guzman had an unassisted goal before finishing a pass from seventh-grader Colby Smith for the final margin.
Cyclones goalkeeper Davis Stone had seven saves while Griffin Dunlap, Garrison Walker, Christian Butler and Spensir Heath anchored the defense.
The win as the Cyclones’ fifth without a loss in 1-A Carolina Christian Conference matches. CCS rose to 7-8 overall.
