The Kerr-Vance Academy men’s soccer team defeated Community Christian by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday for its 13th win of the season as the Spartans remain unbeaten.

With 19 minutes left in the first half, Christopher Steg scored on a well-placed long range shot. Steg added his second goal a few minutes later on an assist by Charlie Averette, then secured the hat trick with an unassisted third goal. Luke Frazier later scored with a header from a corner kick from Rafael Negron.

Late in the game Steg used a great ball control flick pass to himself to create a breakaway goal. The goalie had no chance at a close range shot, and Steg finished the match with a hat trick. Joseph Knott scored on a header from a corner kick from Gabriel Carr to round out the scoring.

Senior keeper, Cam Pritchett, made a fantastic diving save with 11 minutes left in the match, just one of the many saves he had on the game. With 14 seconds left in the match, Pritchett made another great save to secure the shutout. Kerr-Vance’s defense played extremely well to achieve a shutout against a good team.

“All of the young men played very hard today,” said head coach Devon Honeywell. “We kept pressing them because they did not have many substitutes and we knew they would get tired. It was a good win to secure three points in the standings.”
