Bunting sisters pace WCA romp
RALEIGH —The Wilson Christian Academy softball team extended its undefeated streak to seven games by thumping host Ravenscroft, a 3-A member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, 19-5 on Thursday.
The Lady Chargers, reigning North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A champions, plated four runs in each of the first two innings and took command with eight runs in the fourth.
Wilson Christian laced 15 hits with Casey Bunting and Haley Bunting each connecting for a home run. Haley Bunting belted a grand slam. Haley Bunting also hammered a pair of doubles, while Casey Bunting doubled once.
Casey Bunting drove in seven runs and Haley Bunting five. Breanne Pone added a pair of RBIs.
The Lady Chargers’ Jennifer Edmondson emerged the winning pitcher, working all five innings and allowing four hits and six walks. Edmondson struck out three.
Wilson Christian will again be on the road Friday against Cape Fear Christian.
